Craigslist Ad Is UP!!!

I JUST CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO TAKE THE BABIES TO
KS HUMANE SOCIETY!!

I know the KSHS is getting "better" and their placement percentage is almost 90%, but the Special Kitty Unit has not had a lot of contact with other people. Just that one trip to Pet Smart about 3 weeks ago.

I haven't spent a lot of time with them the past few days - just picked them up once a day and fed them. Been having trouble with asthma and allergies lately means not being able to handle the babies over and over again every day....

Which translates to The Babies are used to a quiet warmish bedroom, don't mind being picked up, but don't like to cuddle much (yet)... They get FUSSY!!! I have found ways to calm them down but they forget...

Please check out the ad about my kitties...

I am giving Craigslist another chance. Last year, I tried Craigslist to find Leo a home - only got scam emails.

I ended up paying Wichita Eagle whatever their high dollar price was last year before I got a legitimate response.... That's why I was considering an Eagle Ad again.

I'm going to call the Eagle in the morning to make sure they don't have some other offers for just an ad in the paper for heaven's sake!
I am also checking out the newspapers in smaller cities... We have a lot of surrounding towns full of folks that commute to their jobs. Surely one those papers has better posting policies.

Will update tomorrow night about housing and kitty ads. I'm going home now to sleep wif my babies....

That looks like a really good ad. Just follow up on all leads, and do home visits and vet checks on the ones that look promising. :)

Have you tried placing an add on the Freecycle in your area. A lot of people do that here in MIssouri. It is also a place where you might be able to get things to help fix up your house.

We luv freecycle...

You have to bite the bullet and do what is best for those kittens. The longer you keep them the worse their adoption chances will get. At the shelter they will get more socialization than you are giving them now. TAKE THEM TO THE SHELTER THEY NEED HOMES. You are doing it so that they can have a new life!

Every week that you keep them longer you are making it more difficult for them to find good homes.

Those kittens really do need to be handled. Excessively. It does make all the difference.
After Momma Dinah had her kittens, I handled them constantly, 15-20 hours of the day. Way over-handled them and they turned out super-friendly.
It got the three we couldn't keep homes right away. The shelter said they wished all kittens were that well-adjusted.
And people always comment on what great dispositions Sol, BJ and Smokey have. The more they are handled, the more sociable they will be, and the better the chance for great homes.

The suggestion about the free paper is a good one.

Never heard of Free Cycle - do they have an online site??? will check the internet.

I tried sleeping with the babies last night and they were all over me playing and being downright hyper silly... Ended up sleeping in the living room.

Went into my bedroom this morning and they were a bit calmer from being sleepy. Munch loves to chew on my hair, sniff my underarms and chew on my socks...silly baby.

I wish the Eagle wasn't so crazy expensive. I know that I would have those kittens in homes in just a few days straight from my house...

more updates tonight.

http://www.petfinder.com/local.html has free ads to place up as well and would probably be more better than craigslist.

There are several free papers around here, either mailed to everyone or for pick-up at various stores. We suspect things are the same around your corner of the world. Check out local gas stations and convienence stores in the area. Some of them have bulletboards as well.

No guarantees, but the cost is minimal, and it can't hurt to try.

We're purring hard down here for you guys - got a few things going on at the moment to do a lot else, but hope you can keep handling the kitties as much as you can like ML's comment. That's going to help them lots,
